Sadly we’re coming to the end of our Time to Shine project with BAME Health and Wellbeing Hub and Wykebeck Valley Day Centre. This has been a wonderful chance to work with 2 groups of older people new to Artlink, including participants who are living with dementia. Artists Rozi Fuller, Musarat Raza and Michelle Scally Clarke worked together with individuals to collect songs, stories and personal experiences together with exploring the Himalayan Fashion exhibition at Lotherton Hall to produce beautiful textile pieces. Participants explored Maya Angelou’s writings and Paul Klee’s work. We learnt traditional songs and stories from across the Caribbean and Yorkshire, all of which will be brought together into a beautiful publication released in March 2019. The groups shared work and visited each other throughout and we hope these connections continue long into the future.
