We’re nearing the end of Year 1 and like everything that’s busy and full of life – it’s come around so quickly! We last updated you about this project in July and since then we’ve continued our partnership work with Bramley Primary School and Bramley Fulfilling Lives, culminating with a beautiful sensory experience led by artists Kim Glassby and Ellie Tillotson. We were also pleased to launch an exhibition at Hillside Enterprise Centre showcasing the artwork and photography of participants from Bewerley Croft’s Transitional Housing Unit, curated by artists’ Van Nong and Christina Ingram. The exhibition is displayed in the main public spaces and will be there for the foreseeable future.
The Morley and Middleton groups performed at the Aspire Cultural Event at the Leeds Irish Centre in January 2018. The two groups performed songs written with support from artists Michelle Scally Clarke and Musarat Raza together with costumes and props designed by themselves.
LiLAC and Artlink Working Together continued to meet monthly during this time and they’ve been exploring ways in which they can work together in response to each other’s work. Artlink Working Together also visited a light installation at Bradford Science and Media Museum in October as a way to start building their reporter skills as we hope they will be supporting us to evaluate Moving On. Both groups are also working on their submissions to Words In The City which is happening in May 2018.
We are now in the midst of our work with Richmond Hill, who’ve recently been on a trip to Cartwright Hall to explore their carnival exhibition and Naburn who are creating a sound and light sculpture for the BEYOND Festival in July.
As the first year draws to a close we’re preparing ourselves for an even busier second year, so hold tight and keep ‘Moving On’!
