The Living Story Project With Artlink West Yorkshire
– Using Creativity Within Dementia Settings –
We are looking for expressions of interest from four not for profit organisations supporting people with dementia to take part in a new two-year creative arts project.
Artlink recently led a successful pilot project with patients and staff at at Asket Croft and The Mount. Twenty participants, together with two professional artists, explored creative writing and printing techniques. Through this work we saw immediate and powerful results for those with communication needs, enabling shared experiences to take place and increased engagement with others. A publication of this work was produced and is available from Artlink.
In light of the success of this pilot and the learning which took place, we are now building on this creative work and are currently developing a large scale bid to a major funder in order to fully fund a new project. This bid is in partnership with the local NHS and Leeds City Council.
This new project will encompass visual arts, creative writing and movement. We are asking interested partners to commit to eight 2-hour creative workshops in Year 1, a further eight workshops will take place in Year 2. We are looking for both individuals living with dementia and care staff to be involved.
If you are interested in becoming a potential partner or would like to hear more about this work please contact:
