We are now full swing into Year 2 of the Open Door project and have recently completed a 12-week programme with Studio 3 participants, including a number of new members who have joined through this project. Throughout these 12-weeks the group worked intensely to produce 5 short animations. There was a real sense of participants working together towards a shared goal as some people worked on the scenery, others created the figures out of modelling clay whilst others shot, directed and provided the voiceover for the finished shorts. For many, this was their first time at trying animation, but for one participant in particular, this project really gave him the opportunity to hone his skills and share these with others. A huge thank you must go to artists Jill Johnson and Rozi Fuller for their creativity and support for the group.
The animations are currently in post production but when completed will be uploaded to the audio/visual page, take a look and let us know what you think! These will also be featured at The Open Door Exhibition which will take place on 10th July – more details to follow. For now, we’ll leave you with some quotes from the project:
“I’ve really enjoyed it. I’m really pleased that I’ve come and I’m doing something creative in my life.”
“We are lucky to have this place, to have somewhere to go to meet people and make new friends.”
“You get lost in your artwork – time just goes. It’s good to be able to express what you do – it’s a good natural medication!”
